The Emerald Green Media team last week had the pleasure of attending both the Belfast and Dublin Business Shows, organised by the good folks at Hashtag Events.
A day full of inspiring encounters, rousing speeches, and fun, the events marked our first visits to a business show. But we’re sure they won’t be our last!
The Belfast Business Show marked EGM’s first-ever visit to an event of this kind, quickly followed by the Dublin Business Show two days later. And we had such an inspiring, engaging, and fun time at both events that we can safely say the Belfast and Dublin events won’t be our last!
Hashtag Events, business event organisers extraordinaires, thankfully host upwards of 20 business shows throughout the year, at which experts in the multi-faceted world of business come together to advise and share knowledge with prospective clients, partners, and even competitors.
We have our sights set on future Belfast and Dublin Business Shows, and even a few further afield in Scotland and northern England.
Both shows began in similar fashion, with representatives of different businesses setting up shop and chatting simultaneously, and thus the informal networking began. This soon gave way to a more orchestrated networking session that really broke the ice.
Upon arriving in Dublin, we delighted in seeing a few familiar faces we’d met in Belfast. We’re sure we’ll see some of them again at future events.
As the day progressed, visitors to the show began to arrive to learn more about what EGM and the other companies at the shows could do to help their businesses – both nascent and established – flourish.
The general running of both events was punctuated by several inspiring talks by a host of keynote speakers, including LinkedIn expert Sharon Murray, digital marketing guru Melanie Boylan, and social media marketing specialist Denise Whitmore.
The centrepiece talk, however, came from our very own Stevie Haughey.
Stevie’s inspiring talk, ‘Transforming a Blog into a Business: The Ireland Before You Die Story’, outlined the growth of our flagship asset website, Ireland Before You Die, from a part-time blog to Ireland’s premier independent travel and tourism website.
In a frank and honest talk, Stevie outlined the successes, challenges, and, perhaps most importantly, life lessons he learned along the way. Unsurprisingly, the speech met with an interested audience and rapturous applause.
While we had a fantastic day out at both the Belfast and Dublin Business Shows, we certainly weren’t just there for the fun. We attended in the hope that our presence and success stories would attract other brands to join the likes of Guinness and Lough Erne Resort as EGM clients.
We were pleased to do so, but we don’t ever rest on our laurels!
