Freelance Book Designer (Travel Books)

We are recruiting a Freelance Book Designer to work remotely with our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our team, helping us publish more books in 2024.

Emerald Green Media Ltd is a digital media company that owns several influential websites, including Ireland Before You Die and Meanwhile in Ireland.

These websites began as far back as 2014, but Emerald Green Media was founded in 2019 to bring them all under one company.

Ireland Before You Die (IB4UD) is our main website, and it is Ireland’s most popular independent travel and culture website.

Meanwhile in Ireland is one of Ireland’s biggest culture and satirical news websites.

We are recruiting a Freelance Book Designer to work remotely with our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our team, helping us publish more books in 2024.

Responsibilities

As a Freelance Book Designer, your primary responsibilities will include:

1. Book Design:

• Create visually appealing and cohesive designs for travel books, ensuring a seamless and engaging reader experience.
• Tailor designs to capture the essence of each travel destination and complement the book’s content.

2. Print Preparation:

• Prepare book designs for print, with a focus on Amazon KDP specifications.
• Ensure high-quality formatting, resolution, and print readiness for a professional end product.

3. Collaboration:

• Work closely with authors, editors, and other stakeholders to understand the vision for each book.
• Incorporate feedback and revisions to meet the desired aesthetic and content requirements.

4. Publishing Knowledge:

• Demonstrate knowledge of the publishing process, particularly in the context of Amazon KDP.
• Stay updated on industry trends, design standards, and platform-specific requirements.

5. Remote Work:

• Work independently and remotely, providing a minimum commitment of 14 hours per week.
• Meet project deadlines and communicate effectively with the team.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven experience in book design, with a strong portfolio showcasing travel book designs.
• Expertise in preparing designs for print, specifically on Amazon KDP.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of publishing processes and industry standards.

Contract Details

• Freelance position, with a minimum commitment of 14 hours per week.
• Completely remote work, providing flexibility in location.
