JOB ALERT: Freelance Writer

Introduction

Emerald Green Media is the company behind two of Ireland’s most popular websites, Ireland Before You Die (IB4UD) and Meanwhile in Ireland (MII). 

Our content covers everything from travel inspiration to quirky Irish news and viral social media stories.

Together, we reach over 700,000 followers on social media and attract a minimum of 100,000 website views each month. 

Many of our articles continue to get traffic long after publishing, especially when shared on our platforms. We are now recruiting a freelance writer to join our remote content team and contribute to both IB4UD and MII.

If you’re a strong writer with an eye for what performs well online, this could be a great opportunity.

The Role

We are looking for someone who can write short, engaging articles that our audience will love. Topics may include light news stories, fun social media roundups, viral trends, listicles, Irish trivia, and anything that sparks curiosity or a laugh.

Writers will upload articles directly into our CMS. These will be reviewed and published by our editorial team, and then shared across our social media channels.

What We’re Looking For

• Excellent written English
• Awareness of what works on social media
• Interest in Irish culture, humour, or travel
• Clear, concise, and conversational writing style
• Ability to meet weekly content targets and take feedback onboard

Job Duties

• Write and submit at least two short articles per week (around 450 to 750 words)
• Upload your drafts into our content system for review
• No need to provide images
• Optional check-ins or brainstorms with the team
  

How Payment Works

This is a commission-only role. Writers are paid based on how well their articles perform.

• You will earn £5 (€5.80) for every 1,000 unique visits your article receives
• Sessions are tracked for 30 days from the date of publication
• You will be given access to Google Analytics to monitor article performance
• Payment is made within 7 days after your 30-day total is reviewed
• Payments are sent via bank transfer
• For example, if your article gets 10,000 sessions in 30 days, you will earn £50. There is no cap on earnings, and high-performing content will be rewarded accordingly.
